FC Barcelona, one of the most iconic and successful clubs in the world, boasts some of the greatest players and coaches in history. Who are some of these players and coaches who may not be as well-known as others? In this article, we take a look at five underrated FC Barcelona legends and why they deserve to be considered legendary.

Xavi is without a doubt one of the greatest midfielders to have ever played for Barcelona. He has won everything there is to win at the club, including 13 La Liga titles, 5 Copa del Reys, 3 UEFA Champions League trophies and 2 FIFA Club World Cup titles. He has also been awarded with the Ballon d’Or four times, making him the most decorated player in Barcelona’s history. Xavi is a hard worker on and off the pitch and his intelligence and Passing ability are unrivaled. He will always be remembered as one of the best players in Barcelona’s history.

Andrés Iniesta

Andrés Iniesta is an underrated legend of FC Barcelona. He is one of the most consistent players in club history, and has always been a key part of the team. He has won numerous trophies with the club, including three La Liga titles, two Copa Del Reys, two UEFA Champions Leagues, and one Spanish Super Cup. He also played a major role in Spain’s World Cup victory in 2010. Iniesta isrespected by his teammates and opponents alike, and his skills on the field have always been admired.

Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi is without a doubt one of the best players to ever play for Barcelona. He has won countless honours with the club, including five La Liga titles, four Copa Del Rey trophies, three Champions League titles and two Inter-Cities Fairs Cup titles. He has also been named Ballon d’Or winner on four occasions and was named FIFA World Player of the Year in 2013. Messi’s consistency and excellence have seen him become an all-time great for Barcelona and one of the most revered players in world football.

Neymar Jr.

There are a lot of great players that have played for FC Barcelona, but one player who a lot of people may not know about is Neymar Jr. Neymar Jr. is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Spanish club FC Barcelona and the Brazil national team. Neymar was born in Santos, Brazil on February 5, 1993, and started playing football at an early age. He first started playing for Santos Youth Team before making his professional debut with the senior team in 2011. In 2013, Neymar signed with Barcelona for a fee of €57 million, and he has since become one of the most highly-rated players in the world. Neymar has won multiple titles with Barcelona, including La Liga (2013–14), Copa del Rey (2014), UEFA Champions League (2015–16), and FIFA Club World Cup (2016). He has also won numerous individual awards, including the Ballon d’Or (2015), Golden Boy Award (2015), and Presidential Medal of Freedom (2017). Neymar has represented Brazil at several major tournaments, including the 2014 World Cup, 2015 Copa America Centenario, and the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

There are many legends that play an important role in FC Barcelona’s illustrious history, but few are as underrated as Cesc Fàbregas. The Spaniard has been with the club since the age of 11 and has played a pivotal role in their recent successes, both on and off the pitch. He is considered to be one of the best midfielders in Europe and his ability to pass accurately, control the midfield area, and create chances for his teammates is unrivaled. So why is he often left out of discussion when it comes to who is one of Barcelona’s greatest players? I believe that Fàbregas’ lack of recognition may stem from his relatively low profile outside of Spain – until now. With new La Liga rules limiting teams to three foreign players on their squads, Fàbregas will no doubt be looking to make an impact in Europe once again this season. If he can do so while continuing to provide much-needed stability at midfield for FC Barcelona, then he will finally be appreciated for what he truly is: one of the greatest ever midfielders to pull on a Blaugrana shirt.
